Six years ago, Mike could read and draw, but he could not write. Now he can do many things.
Twenty years ago, Mr Brown wrote letters to his friends. He used the telephone at home and in the office to call people. Now he has a mobile phone and he can call people anywhere. He also writes emails.
Thirty years ago, Mike's grandpa listened to the radio and read newspapers for news. Now he can read and watch news on the Internet. He reads e-books, too.
Twenty years ago, Mrs Brown made friends at schooL She bought things from shops. Now she has e-friends from all over the world. She does shopping on the Internet too.

(1)教学目标
①知识目标
通过对一般过去时和一般现在时的对比学习,学生能够掌握两种时态的基本用法及部分动词的过去式。
②能力目标
通过本节课的学习,学生能够正确地运用两种时态描述过去与现在存在的状态或发生的事件。
③情感目标
通过对两种时态的对比学习,学生能够感受到个人的成长和社会的进步。
(2)教学重点
学生能够掌握一般过去时和一般现在时的用法并掌握本文内容。
(3)教学难点
学生能对一般过去时和一般现在时进行对比学习,总结两种时态的用法。
2.【参考设计】
Pre-task
The teacher shows some pictures about past and present of Mike and his families, and then lets students guess which is past and which is present. There is a free talk. Then the teacher shows some pairs of past tense of the verbs and present tense of the verbs,such as could and can,wrote and write,used and use...and new word,such as newspaper, radio,telephone...
(设计意图:教师通过图片展示和生词导人环节吸引学生注意力,活跃课堂气氛,同时引入本节课的话题
和任务。)
Task-cycle
Task 1
After reading the passage,students are divided into groups of four. required tasks include: find out all past
tense of the verbs and present tense of the verbs; find out all phrases and words of past time and present time.Four members can choose tasks through discussion,and then write the words they found.
Task 2
Students are required to draw a table about "Then and now of Mike and his families" , and they can refer to the following table or design their own table.
 
Task 3
(l) According to their table. everyone should try to retell the whole story or one of the four paragraphs.
(2) Group members should compare the difference between the two tenses and summarize the main differences.
(3) Every group chooses two members; one is to show and retell the story according to their tables; another is to show their findings between two tenses such as the form of two tenses. The other two group members are responsible for evaluating other group's performance. Then the teacher evaluates students' performance and praises good performance.
(设计意图:通过由浅人深、循序渐进的小组活动,启发学生独立思考,让学生发现两种时悉的不同点
并进行总结。学生通过听取其他组的发言,能增强对他人表现的评价能力,并发现自己的问题,积极参与任务。)
Language focus
(l) After receiving advice from other groups, students discuss again in their groups, and the should analyze all the findings of other groups and supplement or correct their own summary. The teacher supplements and summarizes the point of two tenses.
(2) Practice
The teacher asks students to make up sentences using present tense and past tense to describe their ownexperience, and then share with group members and correct each other.
Some volunteers can share their sentences with the whole class and the teacher correct them if necessary.
(设计意图:教师归纳总结,能够帮助学生更深入地理解所学知识。造句练习能够帮助学生巩固本节课所学的语法知识。)
