教学设计题
请根据以下信息和语言素材进行教学设计,本题用英文作答。
设计任务:阅读以下信息和语言素材,假设你将利用此语言素材提高学生的 阅读能力,请根据学生情况设计针对此素材的教学目标,以及实现该教学目标的
课堂活动。
学生情况;本班人数为30人,多数学生已具备一定的英语语言能力,学生能够积极参与课堂活动,合作意识较强。
教学时间:45分钟
教学设计需包括:
① 教学目标;
② 教学步骤及设计意图;
③ 教学活动方式、具体内容及设计意识;
④教学时间规划;
⑤学习评价。
【语言素材】
A man may usually be known by the books he reads as well as by the company he keeps;, for there is a companionship of books as well as of men; and one should always live in the best company, whether it be of books or of men.
A good book may be among one's best friends. It is the same today that it always was, and it will never change. It is the most patient and cheerful of companions. It does not turn its back upon us in times of difficulty. It always receives us with the same kindness, amusing and instructing us in youth, and comforting us in old age.
Men often discover their affinity to each other by the love they have each for a book.  The  book  is  a  truer  and  higher  bond  of  union.Men  can  think,feel  and sympathize with each other through their favorite author. They live in him together and he lives in them.
A good book is often the best urn of a life enshrining the best that life could think out; for the world of a man's life is, for the most part, but the world of his thoughts.  Thus  the  best  books  are  treasuries  of good  words,  the  golden  thoughts,which remembered and cherished, become our constant companions and comforters.

Teaching objectives:
· Language Competence: students can learn the new words affinity, enshrine, and get to know the importance  of books' companion  and  express their opinions on books.
· Cultural Awareness: Students can realize that books represent beautiful thought in this world, they are indispensable.
· Thinking Quality: Students can explore the real meaning of“companions of books”based on the key information in article,Learn to communicate and express their views to improve the logic, criticality and innovation of their thinking,
· Learning Ability: students' interest in English learning can be stimulated by sharing their opinions, also learn to cooperate with others actively to complete the learning task
Teaching procedure:
Pre-reading (10 mins)
(1)New knowledge teaching
With the help of a picture showing two good friends, the teacher will guide  students to understand the meaning and usage of the new word affinity. Other words
can also be introduced in the same way.
(2)Prediction
Before reading, the teacher will organize students to make a prediction. Some hints will be provided to help them.
· Hint 1:A picture of some books
· Hint 2: the picture shown before
【justification 】In this part, teacher can help students to understand the meaning of  some abstract words, work out their reading obstacles. Prediction can activate them class atmosphere and promote students join the class.
While reading(23mins)
(1)Global reading
Ask students to read the passage quickly to check their prediction within 3   minutes and conclude the main idea of the passage. Later some students will be invited to share their opinions, teacher gives positive feedback.
(2)Detailed reading
Students should read the passage again and do the following tasks:
① True or False
·Only men can play as the companions of men.(T/F)
·Affinity between  men  and books  is  different  with  that between  men  and
men.(T/F)
② Mind mapping
companionship of books

What kind of companion is of book?  
What's the affinity between men and books?  

What are best books?
They can discuss with their partners, after that, teacher will ask some to express
their ideas and ask the whole class to see if their answers are right.
(3) Read after the audio
Students will listen to the audio and read after it. They should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
【justification】After finishing different levels of reading tasks, students can get the main idea and detailed information of the passage, also their reading ability can be developed. Besides,students' cooperation can help them build interest in learning English.
Post-reading   (10mins)
Group discussion
Students need to work in groups to discuss the following question,
·What's your opinion on books?
Ten minutes will be given. When time's up, several students will be invited to share their answers. Then the teacher will comment on students' performance.
【justification 】Group work can help students to use what they've learnt into a real
situation, and also their cooperation awareness can be strengthened.
Summary and homework (2mins)
(1)Summary: Invite some volunteers to make a summary about the whole class.
(2)Homework: Do a survey about their parents' views on books and make a comparison in the next class.
